Scribetober: Micrography

Continuing with posting old projects for Scribetober since my brushes are currently loaned out.

Scribetober: Seagull

Image
Still posting old projects since my brushes are all loaned out. Yes, I translated this into Latin as best I could.  Why?  It was going to a friend with a late period Italian persona and the exemplar I used was in Latin. The award is called the Seagull so I painted them like Mediterranean seagulls eating bread and fries.

My first calligram, based off an example from the British Library. I wish I'd gotten a final photo because I'd glued a ribbon that matched the red and colour of the tongue and attached the seal to the ribbon suspended off the bottom of the warrant. Tail was a little wonky because I forgot until halfway through the Baron at the time had a huge signature because he turned it into a calligram of his own: a boat.

Scribetober: Cat

Image
Yes, I once painted a capital as a friend's cat licking her butt. It was my first attempt at whitework vines, but oh well.

Scribetober: Bear

I loaned my brushes to a new scribe working on an upcoming award, so, uh, here have an old baronial award I made awhile ago and had far too much fun making. The recipient’s name is Beorn and the assignment had to include bees.  Since this is a service award that can be given multiple times, I was a little extra because seriously.  Bear and bees!  They're literally on his device!  It had to bee done.

Rushing to catch up since yesterday was Thanksgiving.  The hole is because my bird felt like some seafood, apparently. This little guy pretty sums up my 2024.

Scribetober: Bas de Page

Image
Short on time today.  Didn't do yesterday's, cartouche, because I wasn't feeling it and had to start working on originals to be awarded on November 2nd.

Funky little demon

Scribetober: Lindworm

Not cleaned up yet and painter tape failed me, tearing the paper. Still, not bad for rushing to get it done after spending most of the day at archery practice.

Scribetober: Arch

I wasn't feeling it today and phoned it in.

Scribetober: Heraldry

I was too eager to share this one and didn't let it dry enough to erase the pencil before getting a photo.

Scribetober: Gem

Scribetober is a challenge to draw or paint something every day in October with a prompt each day.  The first is "gem." Most of us use cards about the size of a business card.
